If our company had to pick a second home this would be it. The town of Sitio de Mata is located near Turrialba at an eleveation that lends itself to the eternal spring. The mornings and evenings are cool and the day time is just right. It is not the weather that attracts us to this place or not even the views of the active Turrialba volcano. What keeps us bringing more and more of our clients to the town of Sitio de Mata is the people.

Sitio de Mata is located from the main highway about 6 km on a dirt road. We like to call this the free back massage. It is on this road that you start to begin to see how the locals in the rural areas live. You see that if they want a bus they might have to walk for it and that the houses are very simple but no bars on the windows as you might see in the Central Valley. The people are friendly and very simple keeping life the way it should be.

Arriving to the town of Sitio de Mata you actually feel like you are just returning home. Or like one man said it is like you just hit a homerun and you are coming around homeplate because everyone welcomes you with a smile and a big hug. If you stay for a couple days or even if it is just a lunch you will feel that you made friends that will last a lifetime.

Some of the more popular things to do in Sitio de Mata is to just have fun and we find that playing soccer and dancing are the activities that the locals of the village and those visiting find most enjoyable. It is through these activities that even if you don’t speak Spanish you are able to communicate and develop a relationship with the people of the village. The chance to live in the homestays and enjoy the simplicity of life and the constant smile is an experience that is becoming harder and harder to find.
