We might spend the day on some wild rapids but then we will relax in the beautiful Nayara Resort with views of the Arenal volcano. Your Costa Rica adventure package might take you and your family to the limit of strenuous hikes where the kids keep asking how much farther and how much farther and two hours later as if they feel they will never arrive you come across a waterfall with one of the most amazing views you have ever seen and that few tourist in the country have probably ever visited as you set up camp and sleep behind the cavern with amazing views views of the pacific coast. Costa Rica tourism has boomed in the last 11 years but few have actually gone off the beaten path to the places where a real Costa Rican adventure can take you. There are all levels of Costa Rican adventures and we can adjust them to any type you are looking for. Some Costa Rica packages are looking for the more easy going where the nice luxury of a Costa Rica resort and just an easy zipline might be your style. While other adventure trips will be looking for the challenging river rafting Costa Rica. We can take you on 2 day rafting trips where camping on the campsite of the Pacuare River and sleeping in tents for a few nights and being surrounded by the jungle might be more your type of adventure.
Our adventure trip is for those that are looking for some real adventure. We assure you that you will not be in 5-star lodging throughout the trip but the 5-star service continues. Take a look at some of the not so touristy spots of Costa Rica and see if you’re up for the challenge of the adventure of a lifetime! This itinerary requires flying into the San Jose Airport (SJO).
Arrive and drive to Grano de Oro Hotel (Grano de Oro)
Today we will meet you outside the airport and take you to the Grano de Oro Hotel. We will stay one night here and go over the plan for the week giving everyone an idea of what to expect and how the week will be operated. (Meals: None) Drive to South Pacific (Camp Site on Ridge)
Today we will be driving south along Costa Rica’s beautiful Pacific coast. Our final destination will be a campsite about 1,000ft in elevation with amazing views of the Pacific. Our first adventure of the day will be an evening tarzan swing that is strung out of the 1,000ft view to the ocean. This is one of the most amazing views you will experience during a week full of amazing views. Our sleeping arrangement tonight will be at an excellent campground with the views of the Pacific from each tent. We will be eating local meals cooked for us by the locals. (Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, & Dinner) Leave Campsite and enter Cavern (Sleep in Cavern)
Without a doubt one of the most amazing places you will have visited in your life. This is truly a breathtaking experience and I literally mean that when you see the hike to get to this place of beauty. Well nothing good comes easy in life and this is a perfect example. The satisfaction of seeing this amazing cavern with 3 enormous waterfalls that fall over the cavern will surely make you feel it was all worth it. We will then rappel down the waterfall into the cavern where we will sleep and enjoy amazing meals that night and the following morning. (Meal: Breakfast, Lunch, & Dinner) Leave Cavern and Drive to Turrialba (Casa Turire)
Today we are going to put you back into a hotel and take a real shower. It will be a travel day as we get close to the famous Pacuare River for the 2 days of rafting. The drive today is absolutely beautiful with amazing views of both coasts as we cross a mountain range that measures over 10,000ft in elevation. Our final destination is the beautiful Casa Turire Hotel which has amazing views of the Turrialba Volcano. This volcano has been pretty active and erupting lately. (Meals: Breakfast) Start Rafting on Pacuare River (Lodge on River)
National Geographic has this listed as one of the top 5 rivers in the world. The scenery is amazing and the true way to see the inside of the rainforest. It is such a nice river we will plan on staying on it for two days. We will stay in a lodge on the river which by no means is roughing it but is definitely isolated on its own and away from it all. This is a great two days of rafting and meals made to perfection. (Meal: Breakfast, Lunch, & Dinner) Leave Pacuare River and drive to Arenal Volcano (Nayara Resort)
Today we will do the second half of the river rafting some of the best rapids of the river. We will then make the drive to the famous Arenal Voclano. This is one of the most active volcanoes in the world and is perfectly cone-shaped with lava pouring down its side day and night. Your final destination will be the Nayara Resort which is one of the best hotels in all of Central America and you will surely deserve it by now. You will have amazing views from you balcony of the erupting Arenal Volcano. (Meals: Breakfast)  Zipline & HotSprings (Nayara Resort)
Today we will do one of the adventures that made Costa Rica famous and that is the zipline. With many ziplines in the country this is by far the best and safest with cables that are strung 700ft above the rainforest floor and amazing views of the volcano and the boulders rolling down its side. After the zipline it will be your chance to relax after a long week of adventures. Our final dinner will be at the hotsprings where you will get a 5-Star meal and a chance just to relax in the volcano-fed springs and reminisce the week’s adventures.
